bOb does some of the best Hip-Hop club nights in New York city - just be prepared to get a little sweaty on the dancefloor [Read the Nightclub & Bar Review]
Nightclub & Bar Review
As one of New York’s top Hip-Hop nightclubs, bOb is a bit of an enigma. Come at the wrong time (literally anytime before 10pm) and you’ll wonder what all the fuss is about - it’s a small space, reasonably low-key and generally pretty quiet.
However - come at the right time (especially after 12 midnight on Wednesday nights) and you’ll find bOb transformed into a vibrating box of young, multi-cultural urban scenesters, hip-hop lovers and pretty girls gyrating on the dancefloor.
The interior is here is no-frills - all exposed brick textures, Rorschach patterns on comfortable low-backed lounges and dim lighting in an intimate space, but the design is not the scene here. Alongside being one of the best places to catch top-notch hip-hop on a good soundsystem, bOb is also infamous for being a pick-up joint, and you’ll find plenty of eager singles coming here to check out their opposites on the dancefloor. (*Girls please note - If you are on the dancefloor you will have guys practically fighting to dance with you. You’ve been warned).
In addition to new and old-school Hip-Hop you’ll find everything from Reggae through to Dancehall and R’n’B being played, and it gets capital-P packed so be prepared to sweat a little. Sometimes there’s a cover but it’s minimal, the drinks are simple and strong, and bOb is as wild as you want to get.
