Nightclub & Bar Review
One of the Opium Group’s crown jewels, SET is one of those fancy clubs that attracts model-types and spenders, alongside clubbers that want a bit of style with their night.
The interior at SET is good-looking and glamorous - very much in the upmarket South Beach style, with intricate light-fittings in the main room and fine leather in the VIP areas, with the only issue being that it’s quite a small place and even if you’ve got a table it can be a bit of a squeeze. Lasers and LEDs blaze light throughout the main-room, and a futuristic fireplace is a nice touch.
The music is actually really good, with House and Electronic on heavy rotation, and SET brings in some world-class names with DJs like Bob Sinclair, Joris Voorn and Steve Aoki just some of the dudes that play here. The soundsystem is good and the sound is nice and crisp - and they have go-go dancers keeping the energy high during the sets.
The drinks are pretty standard and pricey - we’re talking double digits minimum and most drinks starting in the teens. They do all of the upmarket bottles, so plenty of Grey Goose and Patron and, of course, the obligatory champagne weaves its way through the club guided by the light of flashing sparklers and wide smiling waitresses - if you like to live it up VIP style then SET has got you covered.
The crowd is a mix of stylish out-of-towners and locals plus you get a fair amount of celebs through the door - that’s half the fun of a night out here. Then again - half the time they’ll be sealed off in the Trophy Room - a room of its own strictly for the big names and big spenders. SET also gets super-packed later on at night, so if you’re in a group and have some spending money then it can be worthwhile getting bottle-service and splitting a table.
Overall you can expect a bit of drama at the door if you don’t turn up early, but the interior is definitely worth a look, and the DJs that they bring in are a major reason to check it out. Try to secure guestlist entry if you can, and be prepared for some hefty bills for the drinks. The sound is good and the people are pretty - SET is about as Miami as it gets.
