Even in a city renowned for its cutting-edge nightlife scene, stylish locals and European sensibilities, Baroq House manages to distinguish itself from the pack with an ultra-refined interior, a beautiful crowd and a selective door policy. [Read the Nightclub & Bar Review]

Nightclub & Bar Review

Sitting inside a 19th century building on the easy-to-miss Drewery Lane, Baroq House swims with the key elements of Baroque design without being tied to the era - the team behind the interior have melded fin de siecle decadence and 17th century royal opulence with a 21st century hand; flowing chandeliers shower warm tones throughout, a burnt-cream onyx marble bar on the ground floor is a real highlight, and gilded archways add to the glamour. Down in the basement you’ll find a lavish room with a tiled dancefloor, plush daybeds and an intimate vibe, and there are also a couple of VIP rooms for private hire

The crowd is young and vibrant, with more than their fair share of good looking model-types and slickly-dressed professionals. Baroq House caters to an upmarket crowd and it shows in the fashion, which is saying a lot for Australia’s most fashionable city. You’ll definitely want to make an effort before paying a visit so as not to feel under-dressed, especially when they do one of their theme nights...

The drinks on offer are impressive, and in addition to Dom & Moet champagnes they do Belvedere vodka and offer some great cocktails, with a delicious Old Fashioned, top-notch Jamaican Mule and a must try special Best Clubs In hasn’t found anywhere else: ‘The Buddha’ (mascarpone & peanut butter with vanilla vodka and creme de cacao). The selection makes Baroq House as good for a couple of intimate drinks as it is for a big night, with something going on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Baroq House Saturdays are the pick of the bunch if you wanna take it up a notch, with live music upstairs and quality DJs taking over downstairs playing a whole mix of genres - anything that gets the party started from R’n’B and Funk through to upbeat House.

Overall Baroq House is one of the hardest doors in the city, but you can’t blame them for wanting to make sure that the people aren’t overshadowed by the lush interior. Put in some effort and get a little bit fancy, it’s a must-visit for those of you that appreciate the finer things in life.
