Nightclub & Bar Review
Avalon is one of Hollywood’s most popular nightclubs and attracts a massive crowd eager to see top local and international Electronic DJ’s alongside up-and-coming bands rock the dance-floor in an historic building dating all the way from the late 1920’s. Although the building is a classic, the interior is as cool as it gets, with a recent refurbishment offering a venue that is not only super-stylish but also provides top-notch acoustics.
With 3 bars, an upper balcony with opera style box-seating, a main dance-floor and a spacious patio that also accommodates DJs, Avalon is a club that has got every option covered. The interior design is detailed and fresh, and each room offers a different vibe, moving from soft cream chaise lounges, eggshell walls and dark wooden tiles in A-lister favourite Bardot (which sits adjacent to Avalon) through to warm lights and gold panels in the appropriately named Honey restaurant / club downstairs.
The crowd at Avalon varies based on which acts they have booked, but you can be sure that you'll get a mix of upmarket and casual, with a few scenesters alongside the music-lovers, ravers and DJ groupies. Another big draw-card here, apart from the top-notch music, is the fact that Avalon parties well into the mornings, a rarity in LA where a lot of clubs shut up shop at around 2am. If you're a night-owl, or you're used to partying European-style, then you'll definitely appreciate being able to go hard all night without interruptions.
Located directly across the street from the landmark Capitol Records building, Avalon is all about the music, and the full-sized stage has held everyone from Sasha and Digweed, through to the Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails. With a forward-thinking music policy, a cool crowd and a great interior, this place is the real-deal and definitely one of the best clubs in Los Angeles.
