King Size Bar is basically a pocket rocket in nightclub form. Getting in is hard, leaving is harder. [Read the Nightclub & Bar Review]
Nightclub & Bar Review
King Size Bar in Berlin is well-known throughout the city for having a tough door, a cool vibe and a very limited capacity. Funnily enough, for a spot the size of a kitchen, the party is totally Super-Sized. It attracts a whole array of indie / art / hipster types alongside some curious out-of-towners, and it's also known for tricking people into staying up way past their bed time (kind of like Revolver Upstairs in Melbourne). King Size Bar isn't too shiny & clean, and it has a really classic old-school Berlin nightlife flavour without being too rough around the edges.
The look of King Size Bar is alternative, chilled and full of character. It almost looks like the bedroom of a graphic designer, with little touches here and there that give the minute space some sizzle. As soon as you walk in the front you'll probably walk straight into someone as King Size is almost always packed out, and to your right you've got the bar. At the other end of the room is the DJ booth, and although there's barely room to breathe people will still try their best to bust out some moves.
King Size Bar brings in top guest DJ's on a regular basis, so basically every night it's open you'll find someone hot on the decks playing something eclectic, funky, fresh or techy (or a mix of all of them). Expect everything from 80's to House with Techno and even Drum'n'Bass in between. It's not as music-focused as some of the bigger Berlin nightclubs, but it's also more vibe heavy anyway
The drink prices are okay, Berlin nightclubs are cheap as chips anyway but a beer at King Size Bar will set you back around €2.50 which still doesn't break the bank. They also do an array of cocktails and the bar staff are cool and helpful.
King Size Bar doesn't really hit its peak until about 3 - 4am till 'round 7am, but if you pop by any time from around 11pm it's gonna be pretty lively and a lot of fun. It also has the benefit of being in a really cool area, so it's definitely worth a night out.
